Founded in 1946, The Atlanta Hawks are a professional American basketball team based in Atlanta, Georgia. The Hawks were first known as Tri-Cities Blackhawks before moving to Milwaukee, St. Louis, and finally settled in Atlanta in 1968. During its 70-year history, the Hawks have won 1 championship (1958), 4 conference titles, 5 division titles, and retired 4 numbers, number 21 Dominique Wilkens, number 9 Bob Pettit, number 23 Lou Hudson, and number 55 Dikembe Mutombo. In 2024, Atlanta Hawks and loss has become synonymous in basketball news as the team is down bad at 11 seed in the Eastern Conference. Fans expected much more from Hawk’s first season with head coach Quinn Snyder. The playoff dream is not over yet for Trae Young and the Hawks, but he will need more than 27 points per game and viral internet soundbites to make that dream a reality.
Atlanta Hawks 2023 - 2024 season game to watch
The Hawks began the 2023-2024 season on October 25, 2023, against the Charlotte Hornets and will conclude on April 14, 2024, against the Indiana Pacers. The NBA Play-In Tournament for 2023-24 will be held April 16-19, followed by the first round of the NBA Playoffs on April 20. Words can not describe the disappointment among fans after the embarrassing 127-99 loss to the seven-win Washington Wizards. Many are hoping for a resurgence in the second half of the season, and they have to prove it in the next game against the French future Hall of Fame Victor Wembanyama and, ironically, seven-win San Antonio Spurs.
Must-watch upcoming Atlanta Hawks matchup:
Atlanta Hawks vs New York Knicks:
The epic battle between Knicks fans and Trae Young has become one of the most intense in basketball history. Knicks fans aren’t shy of displaying their distasteful attitude toward Ice Trae, and Ice Trae is loving every second of it. Video footage of these on-court back-and-forth bantering can be found all over the internet, but if you love basketball as much as we do, watching them live is a once-in-a-lifetime experience no fan should miss.
Atlanta Hawks vs Charlotte Hornets:
Good old NBA regional rivalry. The battle between today’s Trae Young-led Hawks and Lamelo Ball-led Hornets remains as thrilling as ever despite their fallback. With young talents continuing to develop and their roster becoming more experienced, fans of both teams have every reason to be confident in exciting future clashes.
TicketX’s Atlanta Hawks top players pick:
Trae Young:
Atlanta’s brightest star has been this way since he was drafted in 2018. Given how much of the article has been dedicated to Trae Young, you know how important the young Point Guard is in keeping the Hawks afloat competitively this season. The only question remains: who can pick up the slack when he is not playing? It seems like not even Hawks’s head coach knows the answer.

Dejounte Murray:
Atlanta temporal substitute for Trae Young. Murray averaged 21.2 points per game and somewhat alleviated the Hawks’s offensive burden during the Trae Young-less minutes. This won’t last long, though. Rumor has it Murray is being considered for a trade with interest from the Lakers and Knicks. If this is true, the Hawks better wish the new guy could pick up Trae Young’s slack because basketball god knows they need it now.
The Lakers appear to be finalizing a blockbuster trade with the Atlanta Hawks for Dejounte Murray and Bogdan Bogdanovic and/or Clint Capela for a package that includes Austin Reaves and L.A.’s 2029 first round pick.https://t.co/EE8KslZddi pic.twitter.com/zoUa9LFyMD
