About The Cure
The English rock band The Cure was created by songwriter, guitarist, and lead vocalist Robert Smith in Crawley, West Sussex, England back in 1976. These alt-goth rockers have seen numerous lineup changes through the years, but Smith has always remained a constant and the backbone of this group.
Currently, The Cure is made up of Smith (vocals, guitar, six-string bass, keyboards), Simon Gallup (bass)—a member of The Cure for all but three years—Jason Cooper (drums, percussion), Perry Bamonte (keyboards, guitars), Roger O’Donnell (keyboards) and Reeves Gabrels (guitar).
The Cure album covers have always been artistic and strange and the cover of the upcoming new album release Songs of a Lost World, their 14th studio album, is no different.

Best Album of The Cure
Naming the best album of any group is always a subjective thing, but the best album of The Cure is probably 1989's Disintegration. The alternative rockers really hit a groove starting in 1985 with The Head of the Door (Close to Me) and 1987’s Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (Why Can’t I Be You, Just Like Heaven), but 1989 probably gave us The Cure Best Album with the release of Disintegration.
The group’s highest-selling record to date with over four million copies worldwide, Disintegration reached No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 12 on the US Billboard 200™. The 12-song album which was released on May 2, 1989, included four wonderful singles, and much of the musical spinal cord of the Crawley, West Sussex, gothic group.
The first single from Disintegration was the ethereal Lullaby and it was followed by Fascination Street, Lovesong—which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100—and the mesmerizing Pictures of You, making it as muscular of an album as you could find back then.
Recorded with co-producer David M. Allen from late 1988 to the early part of 1989 at Hook End Recording Studios in Checkendon, Oxfordshire, The Cure’s Disintegration was ranked a respectable No. 116 in the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list compiled by Rolling Stone.
