About New Edition
Formed in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, R&B icons New Edition were formed back in 1978, and the group’s name is meant to mean the “new edition” of the Jackson 5.
New Edition led off their stint at the top with some huge pop hits that were ubiquitous on 1980s radio, such as “Candy Girl” and “Mr. Telephone Man.”
While New Edition did break up in 1991, the group reunited in 1996 briefly, then has performed semi-regularly since 2002 with a mix of nostalgic hits, covers, and occasional new material.
New Edition Songs
New Edition has one song on Spotify with over 1 billion streams in “Can You Stand The Rain” (#1 with 127,570,075 on March 14, 2026), and nine others with more than 15 million streams in “Mr Telephone Man” (#2), and “If It Isn’t Love” (#3).
I’m Still In Love with You” (#4), “Cool It Now” (#5), “Candy Girl” (#6), “Hit Me Off” (#7), “Boys To Men” (#8), and “You’re Not My Kind of Girl” (#9) round out the impressive list.
