Metallica Residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas Information

Sphere Residency Name: Life Burns Faster

Sphere Residency Dates: October 1, 2026 to March 13, 2027

American heavy metal legends Metallica announced on February 25 that it will be the next big act doing a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas when the quartet plays the next-generation entertainment venue for the now 24 much-anticipated nights starting on October 1, 2026.

The group originally planned eight shows over the course of four weekends, but with very heavy ticket demand for the Life Burns Faster residency, Metallica added six more dates, and then six more, and then four more, meaning that they will be there for 12 weekends.

“Due to unbelievable demand (wow, guys!) SIX SHOWS are being added to our ‘Life Burns Faster’ residency at Sphere in Las Vegas,” Metallica announced on its Instagram account.

For the residency, Metallica will continue concerts in its “No Repeat Weekend” tour format, where James Hetfield & Co. play two nights (on weekends) with no repeat songs in the sets for shows. The group implemented the format in the ongoing M72 World Tour.

Supporting the release of the studio album 72 Seasons, the M72 World Tour started back in 2023 and is still going strong here in 2026, where it will all come to an end soon at London Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, England, on Sunday, July 5.

On June 27 and June 29, 2025, Metallica took the M72 World Tour to Empower Stadium in Denver, Colorado, where the group did a “No Repeat Weekend” setlist with Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills, setting attendance records at the stadium of the NFL’s Denver Broncos.

Life Burns Faster residency tickets went on sale to the general public on Friday, March 6. The unique “No Repeat Weekends” format will see Thursday and Saturday Metallica concerts. And you can get Metallica two-day passes here at TicketX with no service fees.

Metallica told how the residency had its roots when drummer Lars Ulrich was attending the U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere residency in 2023. “About 12 seconds into opening night of Sphere back in ‘23, I thought, ‘We have to do this. It’s completely uncharted territory!” Ulrich revealed.

“This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months’ time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next level! Ulrich said of the Live Nation-produced extravaganza.

About Sphere

The Sphere at the Venetian Resort on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip has quickly become the place to be for musical artists as well as fans who can experience shows from seats up high or in the Snake Pit surrounded by the 360-degree M72 stage.

With multi-sensory 4D technology and Sphere Immersive Sound, the Sphere Las Vegas has changed concerts forever. And we are now seeing many other cities around the world constructing or planning their own immersive venue spheres to host entertainment.

The company behind Sphere Las Vegas, Sphere Entertainment, is planning venues in National Harbor, Maryland (near Washington, DC), and Abu Dhabi, with the DC sphere being a smaller version and the Abu Dhabi project another large one like Las Vegas.

West Hollywood, California (Sphere on Sunset) and Nashville (Skyline Sphere) are considering spheres, while London, UK halted a 21,500-capacity project in Stratford with the Mayor of London fighting the plan in 2023, citing potential noise and light pollution.

About Metallica

Formed in LA in 1981 by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, heavy metal icons Metallica have been based in San Francisco for most of their career. Metallica is one of the so-called “big four” thrash metal bands along with Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer.

The group had its first real commercial success after the release of the third studio album, Master of Puppets (1986), an album which Rolling Stone magazine ranked #97 in its ‘The 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time’ list.

Metallica has sold 125 million albums worldwide and has generated more than 25 billion streams and played to the Metallica Family on all seven continents. Have you been to Antarctica? The group has a 1.3 million-strong following in its Fifth Member fan club.

Inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony at Cleveland Public Hall in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 4, 2009, by Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica has won 10 Grammys from 26 nominations.

At the 66th Grammys in 2024, Metallica won Best Metal Performance for their hit song "72 Seasons" off their latest and 12th studio album of the same name, 72 Seasons (2023).

Joining late icons Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and that purple genius Prince—along with the living legends Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift—Metallica is one of the greatest non-country musical acts to emerge from the US.

Metallica Songs

Metallica has an impressive 15 songs on Spotify with over 200 million streams and three hits with over 1 billion streams in “Ordinary” (#1 with 2,018,026595 on March 6, 2026), “Nothing Else Matters” (#2), and “Master of Puppets” (#3).
