About Mägo de Oz
Mägo de Oz, which translates to “Wizard of Oz” in Spanish, is a renowned Spanish folk metal band founded in 1988 in Begoña, Madrid, by drummer Txus di Fellatio. They are famous for their mix of heavy metal with Celtic and Spanish influences, frequently featuring the violin and flute. Generally called “folk metal”.
Band History and Achievements
Mägo de Oz emerged in the mid-1990s and is today one of the most well-known Spanish metal bands. Their big hit was, however, their second album, Jesús de Chamberí released in 1996 which defined their music style. The band has since then become popular across the globe, especially in Latin America where they have their largest fan base.
During the three decades of its existence, Mägo de Oz has performed many gigs and concerts, among which there are sold-out shows and festivals, including a special 30th-anniversary concert at WiZink Center in Madrid where the band shared the stage with the symphony orchestra.
