Who is HARDY?
HARDY, whose real name is Michael Hardy, is a 34-year-old American songwriter and rock country music singer who burst onto the musical scene in 2018 with the release of his EP This Ole Boy which he promoted while on Morgan Wallen’s If I Know Me Tour.
Hardy was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi in 1990 and attended Neshoba Central High School there where he reportedly wrote his first song ever to simply “impress a girl.” He would then attend Middle Tennessee University in Murfreesboro where he earned a degree in the Recording Industry Management Program in songwriting.
The MTSU graduate has written songs for some of the biggest names in country music, including Wallen, Blake Shelton(God’s Country, Hell Right), Dallas Smith (Drop), Chris Lane (I Don’t Know About You), Thomas Rhett, Jameson Rodgers (Some Girls), and Florida Georgia Line (Simple, Talk You Out Of It).
After graduating from college, Hardy took a trip to Nashville to visit his sister and realized that he could actually make a career in music, a lot like Nashville resident Jelly Roll did.
HARDY’s Early Years In Country Music
In 2019, HARDY released the collaborative mixtape featuring 17 artists called Hixtape, Vol. 1, with the hit song One Beer (featuring Lauren Alania and Devin Dawson), and in 2020, he put out his first and debut studio album, The Rock, both on Big Loud Records.
HARDY created Hixtape, Vol. 2 in 2021 and toured with Sean Stemaly. In late summer of that year, he hit the road with Jason Aldean when his Back in the Saddle tour kicked off in August with special guests HARDY and Lainey Wilson.
In 2022, HARDY went out on Wallen’s Dangerous tour, with HARDY appearing on almost all of the dates. Later that year, he announced that he would be releasing his second studio album in early 2023.
That release, the Mockingbird & THE CROW, ended up being a big success for HARDY and elevated him into top-billing status and a cutting-edge country artist who could now do shows on his own and would reach the top of the country music charts.
What is HARDY’s Most Recent Album Release?
On July 12, 2024, HARDY released the 13-song album Quit!! With guest appearances from Red Hot Chili Peppers Chad Smith (Good Girl Phase), Knox (Happy Hour), and Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst (Soul4Sale).
Other songs on the album include Rockstar, I Don’t Miss, Rockstar, Psycho, Jim Bob. WHYBMWL, Time To Be Dead, Live Forever, Orphan, Six Feet Under (Caleigh’s Song), and the album opener and title track, Quit!!.
The story behind the song Quit!! has become legendary and stretches back to what HARDY said was “almost a decade ago” when after a singer-songwriter show in Nashville, he found a napkin in the tip jar with the Word “quit” on it.
This fired newbie HARDY up so much that he said he used the “discouragement as fuel” to feed the flames of his desire to become a successful country artist one day
